You're standing at a breathtaking viewpoint, the light is magical... but the photo just doesn't capture the experience. Sound familiar? Don't worry, with a few clever tricks, you can take photos that are perfect for your wall (or Instawall 😉).

1. Seek out the golden hour

Light makes or breaks your photo. The golden hour – the hour after sunrise or before sunset – gives your subject a warm, soft glow. Your photos will get that dreamy vacation vibe that no filter can replicate.

2. Less is more: create calm in your composition

We often want to capture everything at once. But try to focus on one strong subject instead. An empty boulevard, a boat on a calm sea, a colorful umbrella on a white beach. Calmness in your photo = power on your wall.

3. Use the rule of thirds

Imagine your image divided into 9 sections (2 horizontal and 2 vertical lines). Place your subject at one of the intersections for a natural, balanced composition. Many smartphones have these guidelines as standard in their camera settings!

4. Create depth with layers

A photo becomes more interesting when you create 'layers': something in the foreground (a flower, shadow, or person), your main subject in the middle, and a background. It gives the eye something to discover and brings life to your image.

5. Dare to step into the frame

You are your vacation! A silhouette of yourself against a sunset, or a spontaneous laugh in a city canal – it makes your photo personal and memorable. Use a self-timer or ask someone to take your picture (and give them these tips 😄).

Bonus: Turn your best holiday photo into a lasting work of art
